Vanessa Valorie Kern, age 21, died March 27, 1998 in Waverly, Minn.
Vanessa was born October 22, 1976 in Glencoe, Minn., the daughter of Waldemar (Pete) Kern and Gretta Kern. She was the second youngest of seven children. Vanessa graduated from Howard Lake-Waverly High School in 1995.
She was preceded in death by Edward Kern.
Vanessa is loved and missed by her parents; grandparents, Lenora Kern, and Edgar and Ethel Metzger; brothers and sisters, Travis Kern, Leah Schwartzrock, Danita Kern, Wanda Kern, Tanya Kern, and Wyatt Kern.
Vanessa was a very independent and creative girl. She truly enjoyed photography, bicycling, interior design and jewelry making.
She knew what she liked and she knew what she didn't like. She always liked the rain. The day before she died, God blessed her with a thunderstorm one last time. And now she is with God, without pain, without suffering and with plenty of things to do. God blessed her.
Funeral services for Vanessa were Tuesday, March 31 at 2 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home, Howard Lake with the Rev. Charles Holladay officiating.
Interment was in St. James Lutheran Cemetery at Dutch Lake.
Casket bearers were Ron Kern, Greg Kern, Warren Kern, Randy Kern, Nathan Zellman, and Michael Kubic.
