Orville William Kloempken
Funeral services for Orville William Kloempken, 74, of rural Hamburg were held on Saturday, Dec. 19 from the St. Paul's Evangelical Reformed Church of Hamburg, with the Rev. Henry P. Bowen officiating.
Mr. Kloempken died on Dec. 16, 1998.
The organist was Sandy Kroells. The congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace," "What A Friend We Have In Jesus," and "Rock Of Ages."
Pallbearers were Derald Feltmann, Randy Feltmann, Jeff Mueller, John Hoernemann, Wyatt Schrupp and Jason Kloempken. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Kloempken was born to Gerhard and Lydia (Feltmann) Kloempken on April 26, 1924 in Washington Lake Township, Sibley County. He was baptized on the May 25, 1924 at the St. Paul's Evangelical Reformed Church and confirmed there on April 10, 1938. He attended the rural country school District 25 in Washington Lake Township and completed the ninth grade at Central High School.
On June 21, 1947, Mr. Kloempken was united in marriage to Emma Hoernemann at Friedens United Church Of Christ in rural Norwood Young America. The couple made their home on a farm in Washington Lake Township in Sibley County.
Mr. Kloempken served his church on the consistory and through the men's brotherhood.
He enjoyed farming and continued to help his son with fieldwork. He also served on the Washington Lake Township Board.
Mr. Kloempken enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting, especially with his grandsons, and baseball.
Following a stroke in April, his activities were extremely limited.
Survivors include his children, Eunys Kloempken of Austin, Steve Kloempken and wife, Ione, of Kasson, Bonita Schrupp and husband, Bruce, of Norwood Young America, Lance Kloempken and wife, Kathleen, of Hamburg, Amy Franck and husband, Kirk, of Belle Plaine, Mark Kloempken of Hamburg; grandchildren, Amanda Kloempken, Heidi Kloempken, Melissa Kloempken, Wyatt Schrupp, Jennifer Schrupp, Jill Schrupp, Jason Kloempken, Brian Kloempken, Eric Kloempken, Timothy Kloempken, Joseph Franck and John Franck; sisters, Angela Franke of Hamburg and Melva Mueller and husband, Glen, of Norwood Young America; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alfred Marks of Lester Prairie, Karl and Helma Hoernemann, Esther and Harry Meyer of Gaylord, Ottilie Hoernemann of Glencoe; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Kloempken was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emma Kloempken; an infant daughter; brothers-in-law, Walter Franke, William Hoernemann; and sister-in-law, Gertrude Marks.
The Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel of Norwood Young America handled arrangements.
