Agnes Anna Amalie Knops was born June 20, 1904 in Middleville Township, Wright County, Minn., the daughter of Friedrick and Louise (Oletzke) Zander.
She was baptized on July 17, 1904 at St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, by the Rev. F. H. Kolbe, and was confirmed in her faith on March 24, 1918 at St. James Church by the Rev. A.L. Oetjen.
Agnes was united in marriage to Otto Hinz on Nov. 2, 1922 at St. James Church by Oetjen. They made their home on a farm southwest of Howard Lake. After 40 years of blessings together, Otto was called to his eternal rest on June 15, 1963.
Agnes was then united in marriage to Leo Fredette on June 1, 1964 at St. James Church by the Rev. G. C. Michael. After six years of marriage, Leo passed away on Dec. 9, 1970.
While spending winters in Texas, she met Francis Knops. They were married in Brownsville by Judge Adolfo Betancourt on April 7, 1972.
Francis passed away Dec. 13, 1991, and Agnes returned to Minnesota where she lived at the Kensington in Buffalo until July 1992. At that time, she entered the Howard Lake Care Center.
On June 23, 1998, Agnes Knops was called to her eternal rest at the age of 94 years and three days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Friedrick and Louise Zander; husbands, Otto Hinz, Leo Fredette and Francis Knops; four brothers, Otto, Fred, Herman and Ervin Zander; three sisters, Mathilda Bakeberg, Alma Stoll and Frances Reek.
Agnes is further survived by many nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Arrangements were by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake. Services were held June 26, 1998 at St. James Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Nirva officiating. The organist was Mary Ann Shetterly.
Pallbearers were Dennis Reek, Gary Hagemann, Melmer Lahr, Earl Stoll, Charles Stoll, and Tom Bakeberg. Interment was in the St. James Cemetery.
