Olga Martha Kramer

Funeral services for Olga Martha Kramer, 92, of Watertown and formerly Norwood Young America (NYA) were held Friday, Sept. 4, from St. John's Lutheran Church in NYA, with the Rev. Scott Gustafson officiating.

Mrs. Kramer died on Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at the Elim Nursing Home in Watertown.

Organist was Arthur Fuchs, and the congregational hymns were "Asleep In Jesus," "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art." Soloist Lawrence Biermann sang "Muede bin ich geh zur Ruh."

Pallbearers were Dean Hartwig, Greg Hartwig, Keith Weise, Patrick Hukriede, Mark Pieper and Dan Kirkpatrick. Honorary pallbearers were Lynne Lombardi, Guido Lombardi, Sherry Weise, Marjorie Wente, Sue Hartwig, Brian Gilster, Tracy Gilster, Brenda Hukriede and Kimberly Pieper. Interment was in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in NYA.

Olga Martha Milschewsky was born to Herman and Katherine (Weber) Milschewsky on March 29, 1906 in Hollywood Township, Minn. She was baptized on Nov. 4, 1906 in Hollywood Township by the Rev. F.W. Erthal. She was confirmed in the faith June 1, 1919 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by the Rev. Erthal.

On March 29, 1934, she was united in marriage with Walter Kramer at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by Rev. Erthal. The couple made their home on the Kramer family farm in rural NYA. In September 1992, the Kramers moved to Elim Meadows in Watertown.

Mrs. Kramer was an active member in the St. John's LWML and volunteered for many years at the Economy Center in Hopkins. She was also a life-long member of the Tiger Lilies Home Extension group. Her interests included many hours of piecing quilts for children, grandchildren and also for World Relief. She also enjoyed embroidery and painting. After retirement, the Kramers vacationed across the country. She also was an avid Twins fan.

Survivors include her husband, Walter of Watertown; daughters, Arlys Hartwig and husband, Cary, of Lester Prairie, Joyce Gilster and husband, Gary, of Prior Lake, Loris Kramer of NYA; grandchildren, Lynne Lombardi and husband, Guido, of Annandale, Va., Sherry Weise and husband, Keith, of Lester Prairie, Dean Hartwig of Glencoe, Greg Hartwig and wife, Sue, of Winsted, Mark Pieper and wife, Kimberly, of Maple Grove, Brian Gilster and wife, Tracy, of Red Beach, New Zealand, Brenda Hukriede and husband, Patrick, of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; great-grandchildren, Kahl, Lejia and Thera Lombardi, Keenan and Beau Weise, Anastasia and Mitchell Hartwig, Natalie and Christian Pieper; sisters-in-law, Hulda Kramer of NYA, Rhoda Jones and husband, Casey, of Lakeville, Florence Kempfert of Hutchinson; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers:,Oscar, Edmund, Herbert and Alfred Milschewsky; sister, Nora Kirkpatrick; foster sister, Hattie Verch; and baby grandson Gilster.

The Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel of NYA handled arrangements.
