Albert "Al" M. Littfin
Albert "Al" M. Littfin, age 83 of Winsted, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998 at his residence.
He was born east of Winsted on April 23, 1915, the son of Leonard and Mary T. Westrup Littfin.
Al farmed for many years on his family's homestead. While still farming, he worked part-time at Millerbernd Design and Fabrication.
Later, Al quit farming, moved to Winsted in 1973, and became a full-time welder at Millerbernd's.
Al played the accordian in the Littfin Brothers Orchestra and also in various other polka bands for more than 50 years. In addition, he went out on his own and played the organ.
Al is survived by a sister, Mary E. Specken, and a sister-in-law, Mabel Littfin, both of Winsted; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Magdalen T. Littfin; brothers, John Littfin Sr. and Ralph Littfin; and sisters, Margaret Harken and Clara Knoop.
A Mass of Christian Burial was said on Friday, Dec. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the celebrant and Lavon Kielkucki was the organist for the Mass. Interment followed at the parish cemetery.
Ken Knoop, Jerry Littfin, Mike Specken Jr., Tom Specken, Mike Fasching, and Dave Westrup served as the casket bearers.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted on Thursday, Dec. 10 from 5 to 8 p.m.; with a parish prayer service at the chapel Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
