Walter L. Lobitz

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 11, 1998 for Walter L. Lobitz, 83 of Watertown. He died Tuesday, July 7, 1998 at Elim Home in Watertown, Minn.

Walter was born Aug. 15, 1914 at Watertown Township, the son of John and Martha (Lindenberg) Lobitz. He was baptized on Sept. 13, 1914 and confirmed April 28, 1929, both at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia by the Rev. William. Schneider.

On Feb. 8, 1940, Walter married Lorena Schaunamann at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Watertown Township, by the Rev. Karl Rudolph.

Walter is survived by his wife Lorena; children and spouses: Harlan and Angela Lobitz of Baton Rouge, La., Marlene and Dale Krotzer of Milaca, James Lobitz and friend Bonnie Ide of Watertown, Karen and Robert Olson of Shakopee, Larry and Joan Lobitz of Watertown, Lois and Wesley Schmidt of Lester Prairie, Thomas and Sandra Lobitz of Watertown, Carol and Joe Baumgardner of Olivia, Steven and Cindy Lobitz of Birchwood, Wisc., Shirley and Garlen Mikolichek of Mayer, John and Mary Lobitz of Watertown, Debra and Gary Fairfield of Winsted; 32 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Erna and Elmer Thun of Waconia and Elda and Orville Koehler of Mound.

Walter is preceded in death by his son Daniel Lobitz, great-grandson Adam Robert Markuson, parents John and Martha Lobitz, and sisters Esther Bauer, Gladys Hilk, Stella Baumann, Mabel Baumann, and Ellen Lobitz.

Visitation was on Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia, from 4-8 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the service. A chapel service was at 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Watertown Township, with the Rev. Keith H. Grimm officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Walter's grandchildren were the casket bearers.
