Lillian Mathilda Marth
Funeral services for Lillian Mathilda Marth, 100, of Gaylord were held on Monday, July 27, from St. John's Lutheran Church (Mountville), rural Gaylord, with the Rev. Luther Koehler officiating.
Mrs. Marth died on Friday, July 24, 1998, at the Gaylord Lakeview Home.
Pallbearers were her grandsons James Marth, Jerome Marth, Stephen Mehlop, Larry Schuette, Dan Hoefs and LeRoy Hoefs Jr. Interment was in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
Lillian M. Fenske was born on Feb. 4, 1898, in Dryden Township, rural Gaylord, to Edward and Emma (Manthey) Fenske. In 1907, she moved with her parents to a farm near Stewart. She attended rural school near Stewart.
She married Martin Marth on May 14, 1924, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stewart. After their marriage, they farmed in Dryden Township north of Gaylord. They retired in 1963 and moved into Gaylord.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church (Mountville). She enjoyed hand work, baking and working in her large garden.
Mrs. Marth had been a resident of the Gaylord Lakeview Home since November 1986.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Eleanor Marth of rural Gaylord; daughter, Eunice Schuette of Brownton; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, LeRoy Hoefs of Gaylord; daughter-in-law, Emma Tabbert and husband, Hilbert, of Gaylord; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on Nov. 13, 1977; son, Marvin Marth; daughter, Bernice Hoefs; sons-in-law, Howard Mehlhop and Delmer Schuette; grandson, Martin Klockmann; and great-grandson, Jonathan Alsleben.
The Egesdal Funeral Home of Gaylord handled arrangements.
