Robert B. (Bob) Morehouse

Robert B. (Bob) Morehouse, age 71 of Watertown, died of lung cancer Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

Bob was born Jan. 7, 1927 at Ogden, Utah, the son of Robert C. and Anna C (Bierbaum) Morehouse. He grew up in Kasson, Minn.

Bob worked in stables in the Twin Cities in the 1940s before heading west to become a cowboy. His ranch-hand roots helped him to gain nonspeaking roles in westerns with John Wayne and Gregory Peck.

In 1948, he returned to Minnesota and began selling real estate. He operated Morehouse Realty in Watertown for five decades.

Bob also operated Rafter M Ranch in Watertown and was well-known as a quarter horse breeder. He was recently inducted into the Canterberry Park Hall of Fame, along with his daughter, Bobbie Knapper.

In addition to his daughter, Bob is survived by his wife Dee; daughters and sons-in-law, Tim Cleveland of Watertown, Terry Hintze of Eden Prairie, Becky and Matt Boll of Waconia, Holli Morehouse and Jeremy Arthur of Watertown,Jody Morehouse of Watertown, and Sam and Craig Engelke of Aurelia, Iowa; sons, Jeff Morehouse of Watertown and Bill Morehouse of Eldorado, Tex.; and grandchildren: Jesse, Robert Wade, Jaclyn, Jocelyn, Garrett, Taylor, Olivia, Jordan, Cody, Alyssa, Gabrielle and Madison.

He is further survived by a sister Ann Krawczyk of Mounds View; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Virginia Wellumson of Chanhassen and Lorraine and Francis Tussing of Waverly; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Oct. 26 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with the Rev. Frank J. Wampach officiating. Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 25, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, and also at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Casketbearers were Garrett Stubbs, Jesse Hintze, Robert Wade Hintze, Lee Hintze, Paul Knapper, and Curt Stubbs.
