Calvernia "Cal" Paradis
Calvernia "Cal" Paradis, age 90 and formerly of Winsted, died early Wednesday morning, Sept. 2, 1998 at the Elim Home in Watertown.
Calvernia was born in Redwood Falls, Minn. on Dec. 27, 1907, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Zern) Johanneck.
On Nov. 22, 1927, she was joined in holy marriage to Eugene L. Paradis in Redwood Falls.
Cal and Eugene were properietors of the Paradis Supermarket in Winsted, Minn., and Cal also served as the bookkeeper.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted and formerly sang in its choir.
Cal was preceded in death by her parents; two infant children: baby Paradis and Steven Paradis; a brother, Herbert; sisters, Grace and Ann; a son, David Charles Paradis; and her husband, Eugene.
She is survived by sons: Eugene (Betty) Paradis of Winston-Salem, N.C.; James (Audrey) Paradis and Paul (Mary L.) Paradis, all of Winsted; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Cal is further survived by a brother, Francis (Mary) Johanneck of North St. Paul; sisters, Lucille Schmid of Roseville and Magdalen (Gordon) DeCorsey of Antelope, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Gloria of Houston, Tx.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was on Friday, Sept. 4, 1998 at noon at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the celebrant of the mass and the organist was Lavon Kielkucki.
Interment followed in the church cemetery. Casket bearers were William, Robert, John, and Paul Paradis, Jr.; Steve Garrison, and Jeff Rathkamp.
Friends called at the church on Friday morning, one hour prior to the mass.
