Pauline O. Paul
Pauline O. Paul, age 83 years of Lester Prairie, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.
Pauline was born in Winsted Township, McLeod County, Oct. 2, 1914, the daughter of Herman and Elsie (Hedtke) Schmidt. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hollywood Township, Carver County, on Oct. 18, 1914 by the Rev. Theodore Rolf. She was instructed in the Lutheran Cathechism and confirmed in the Christian faith at St. John's on April 1, 1928 by the Rev. Walter Ernst.
On Oct. 18, 1931, Pauline Schmidt was joined in holy marriage to Martin Brinkmeier. Martin and Pauline engaged in farming in Bergen Township, McLeod County for 33 years. Martin preceded his wife in death in 1964.
On Jan. 9, 1970, Pauline was joined in holy marriage to Carl Lemmerman. Carl preceded his wife in death in 1982.
Pauline was joined in holy marriage to Ed Paul on Nov. 12, 1983. Ed preceded his wife in death in 1991.
Pauline was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie. She also belonged to the Lester Prairie Senior Citizens group and was a former 20-year employee of Edco Sewing Factory. She enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, reading, and playing cards.
In addition to her husbands, Pauline was preceded in death by an infant brother, Vernon Schmidt in 1924; her father Herman in 1973; her mother Elsie in 1980; a sister-in-law Lorna Schmidt; and a brother-in-law Walter Strei.
She is survived by her step-children: Marlene (Ken) Campbell of New Hope, Karen (Ken) Strei of Lester Prairie, Willard (Virginia) Paul of Shakopee, Angie (Ray) Rannow of Eden Prairie, Verle (Lois) Paul of St. Paul, and Marlene Williamson of Washington, D.C.; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by sisters and a brother: Evelyn Strei, Ortwin (Gladys) Schmidt, and Dorothy (Stanley) Ernst, all of Lester Prairie; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Pauline were on Monday, Aug. 17 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie with the Rev. Grant T. Bode officiating.
Marsha Christensen was the organist. "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," "Be Still, My Soul," and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" were sung as congregational hymns.
Interment followed at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran cementery in rural Lester Prairie. Gary and Brian Ernst, Larry and Michael Strei, Paul Krueger, and Milan Dammann were the casket bearers.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service led by Rev. Bode at 7:30 p.m.
