Jeremy James Pettit, age 19 of Monticello, Minn. died Thursday, June 25, 1998 in St. Louis County.
He was born in Watertown, Minn. on March 12, 1979, the son of James D. and Robin Anne Schmidt Pettit.
Jeremy was baptized at the Church of St. Mary in Waverly, Minn. on May 13, 1979. He received the sacrament of First Communion on April 16, 1989 at the Church of Our Lady Of The Lake in Big Lake, Minn.
Jeremy was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also had been a trumpet player in the Monticello Marching Band for four years.
Jeremy was a very special young man who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Jim and Shelly Pettit, Monticello and Robin and Michael Gaspard, Big Lake; a sister Samantha Pettit, Monticello; grandparents, Don and Gertrude Pettit, Howard Lake, and Frank and Marilyn Schmidt, Waverly; a great-grandmother, Frances Van Beusekom, Delano; a cousin, Barbie Pettit, Waverly; special friend, Aaron Lee, Monticello, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.
Jeremy was preceded in death by a grandmother, Marjorie Ann "Marge" Pettit in 1996.
A memorial service for Jeremy Pettit was held Monday, June 29, 1998 at 1 p.m. at the Riverside Alliance Church in Monticello. The Revs. Bill Arant and Matt Reeve officiated. "Amazing Grace," "On Eagles Wings," and "Softly and Tenderly" were sung as congregational hymns. Interment followed at the Cokato City Cemetery.
Friends called at the Peterson Chapel, Buffalo on Sunday, June 28 from 2 - 5 p.m.
