Stanley Alvin Quast, age 63 of Delano, died suddenly Friday, Jan. 16, 1998.
Stanley was born to Henry and Clara (Bayerl) Quast, April 8, 1934 in Winsted, Minn. He was born and raised in Winsted and graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1952.
Stanley entered the U.S. Army during the Korean War, August 1954 and was honorably discharged August 1962. He married Delores (Libor) May 4, 1957.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Clara Quast; brother, Donald and one granddaughter, Molly Freeman.
He is survived by his wife Delores; sons Russell Stanley (Tammy) of Wolf Creek, Mont.; Jeffrey Alan (Lisa) of Poulsbo, Wash.; James Lee (Nicki) of Maple Plain; daughters Juanita Marie Rice of Corcoran, Sheila Ann Freeman (Tim) of Andover; Lisa Ann Hermann (Greg) of Zimmerman, Lori Beth Callahan (Mike) of Everett, Wash.; 14 grandchildren, brother, Gerald (Rosie) Quast of Winsted; sister Delores (Jim) Anderson of New Hope; many brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
Stanley resided with Delores north of Delano on a hobby farm. He was a master mechanic all his working days until his retirement in April 1996 from Walzer Ford after 32 years. He continued working on small engines and enjoyed woodcrafts and fishing. He was always ready and willing to help others with his mechanical ability.
He was a member of the Delano American Legion, a past president of the Delano Sportsman's Club, a former member and past president of the Delano Muzzleloaders Club. He was also a member of the Minnesota Ultralite Association and owned his own ultralite machine.
Stan also was an avid usher of St. Peter's Catholic Church of Delano, where he was a member.
Visitation was at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano Monday from 4 - 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation was also Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Delano with the Rev. Thomas Boedy, SJ, officiating. Music was by Margaret Groskreutz, organist with the Resurrection Choir.
Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were James Quast, Russell Quast, Jeffrey Quast, Don Anderson, Tony Rohrer, Art Libor.
Stan the Man, lovingly called, will be sadly missed by Delores and all his family, friends, relatives, and all those whose lives he touched.
