Funeral services for Erwin C. “Irvin” Rehmann,
age 81 of rural Lester Prairie, were Monday, Sept. 14, 1998 at St. Peter
Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. Erwin died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998 at
his residence.
The Revs. Gerald Schwanke and Randall Tonn officiated at
the 11 a.m. service. The organist was Kay Gueningsman and the congregational
hymns were “Beautiful Savior,” “Just As I Am,” and “I
Know That My Redeemer Lives.”
Serving as casketbearers were Howard Rehmann, Gordon Gruenhagen,
Arden Severson, Lyle Severson, David Kern, and Curtis Marks. Interment was
in the church cemetery.
Visitation was on Sunday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at the
Paul McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.
Erwin “Irvin” Conrad Rehmann was born the son
of William and Hulda (Tonn) Rehmann on July 8, 1917 in Winsted Township,
Minn. He was baptized by the Rev. Baumhoefener on July 29, 1917 at St. Peter
Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie, and confirmed there by the Rev. Schert
on March 29, 1931. Irvin attended school at District #50 in rural Lester
Prairie until eighth grade.
On May 10, 1942, Irvin was united in marriage to Margaret
(Kruschke) at St. Peter Lutheran Church by the Rev. Vornhof.
Irvin was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran, Lester
Prairie, where he held numerous offices on the church council, including
being on the building committee for the church in 1966, when it moved to
town.
Irvin lived and farmed his entire life in the rural Lester
Prairie area. He began farming using a team of horses and he continued using
them long after other farmers had begun using tractors. Irvin took great
pride in his horses and planted straighter corn rows with them than most
did with tractors.
During his life, Irvin planted many acres of sweet corn
and caught many fish; not for himself, but for the many people he knew and
loved. He definitely loved his family, his friends, and especially his God.

On Sept. 10, 1998, Erwin “Irvin” C. Rehmann entered
eternal rest at the age of 81 years, two months, and two days.
He is survived by his children: Gary Rehmann (wife Linda)
of Lester Prairie, Ardys Lutter (husband Norman) of Chino Hills, Calif.;
Randall Rehmann (wife Bonnie) of Lester Prairie, Amy Gennrich (husband Robert)
of Norwood Young America; grandchildren: Jeffrey, Daniel, and David Rehmann,
James Lutter (wife Stephanie), Joel Lutter, Katie Brecht (husband Kevin),
Joshua and Nichole Rehmann, Karen, Kevin, Brian, and Rachel Gennrich.
Irvin is further survived by brothers-in-law and sister-in-law
Orland Kruschke (wife Mavis), Ruben Kruschke (wife Ruth), and Bernice Kruschke,
all of Lester Prairie; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Hulda
Rehmann; his wife Margaret; brothers, Otto and Gilbert; and sisters, Regina,
Ella and Malinda.
