Paul H. Schmitz obituary 1/28/98


Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998 for
Paul H. Schmitz, age 77, of Lester Prairie. He died Wednesday, Jan. 28,
at Waconia Ridgeview Hospital.
Paul Henry Schmitz was born on Dec. 1, 1920 at Waconia,
Minn., the son of Nick and Anna (Henke) Schmitz. He attended Catholic school
in Waconia and was baptized and confirmed at the Waconia Catholic Church.
On June 4, 1971, he married Lois Klaustermeier. He farmed
near Waconia for many years, then worked for Rosemount, Inc. for 12 years
until he retired.
Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his grandchildren. He
was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted, Minn. and served
as a member of the Knights of Columbus, Winsted Council.
Surviving him are his wife, Lois; children, Fred Ross and
wife Jeri, Oak Harbor, Wash., Gene Ross and wife Terri, Monroe, Ga., and
Carmella Hoffmann and special friend, Tom Viebrock, Dresser, Wis.; seven
grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He is further survived by his brother, Emmett Schmitz,
Waconia; niece, Carol Brodnax and husband Charles; and nephews, Tony Schmitz
and wife Patty, and Kenneth Schmitz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law,
Deloris Schmitz.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity
Catholic Church, Winsted with the Rev. Bob Wyffels officiating. Hymns were
“Amazing Grace,” “Here I Am Lord,” “Old Rugged
Cross,” “On Eagles Wings,” and “How Great Thou Art”
with organist and soloist Lavon Kielkucki.
Casketbearers were Orval Birkholz, Rodger Kirchhoff, Tony
Schmitz, Leon Yetzer, Harlan Klaustermeier, and Tom Viebrock. Interment
was in the church cemetery.
