Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, for Selma
A. Schroeder, 90 of New Germany, Minn.
She died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Ridgeview Medical Center
in Waconia, Minn.
Selma was born Aug. 15, 1907 at Camden Township, Carver
County, Minn., the daughter of Emilie (Wischnack) and Henry F. Mielke.
She was baptized Sept. 22, 1907 at St. Paul’s Lutheran
Church, Crow River, New Germany by the Rev. Theodore Rolf, and confirmed
March 20, 1921 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany by the Rev. Theodore
Rolf.
Selma enjoyed playing cards, bingo, fishing and gardening,
especially her flowers. She celebrated her 90th birthday, Aug. 15, 1997,
with her family at Westwood Place in Watertown, where she resided since
June 17, 1997.
Selma was preceded in death by her husband Martin C., great-grandson,
Joey Eggers; parents, Henry and Emilie Mielke; brother, Ruben Mielke; sister-in-law,
Adelhaid Mielke; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Emma Schroeder;
brothers-in-law, Ervin Schroeder, Ewald Schroeder, Wilbert Schroeder, Clarence
Schroeder, Elmer Schroeder, John Pifer, Erwin Loehrs; sisters-in-law, Ella
Loehrs and Clarinda Templin.
Selma is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon
and Darlene Schroeder of New Germany, Erlen and Mavis Schroeder of Mayer;
daughter and son-in-law, Dorene and Sheldon Stender of Winsted; grandchildren,
Lynette and Allen Menth, Cindy and Dennis Eggers, Lyle and Cindy Schroeder,
Lori and Gary Kubasch, Doug and Katharine Schroeder, Sharon and Tom Blair,
Gregg and Lori Schroeder, Lisa and Wade Swenson, Todd Stender, Tami Stender
and friend, Todd Moeller; great-grandchildren, Tracy and Doug Rolf, Jim
Eggers and fiancee Lynette Morschen, Jeff Eggers, Brian Eggers, Sara Schroeder
and fiancee Mike Jorgenson, Gabriel Schroeder, Laura Schroeder, Nicholas
Kubasch, Chad Kubasch, Cara Schroeder, Benjamin Schroeder, Matthew Blair,
Ryan Blair, Lauren Schroeder, Andy Roepke and Nichole Roepke; great-great-grandchildren,

Lillian Schroeder of Watertown, Viola Schroeder of New Germany, Myrtle Schroeder
of New Germany, Adeline Pifer of Reseda, Calif., Glenna and Jim Harris of
Yakima, Wash., Erna Schroeder of St. Cloud, Hulda Schroeder of Mound; nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. from St. Mark Lutheran
Church, New Germany with the Rev. Jack E. Dahl officiating.
Interment was at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery, New Germany.
Casketbearers were grandchildren, Lynette Menth, Cindy Eggers, Lyle Schroeder,
Lori Kubasch, Doug Schroeder, Sharon Blair, Gregg Schroeder, Lisa Swenson,
Todd Stender, Tami Stender.
