Willmer M. Schuette obituary 12/23/98


Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998 for Willmer
M. Schuette, age 61 of Waconia and formerly of Plato, who died Wednesday,
Dec. 23, 1998 at his home.
Willmer was born Dec. 31, 1936 at Helen Township, McLeod
County, Minn., the son of Emil and Martha Elling Schuette. He was baptized
Jan. 17, 1937 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato by the Rev. R.L. Ehlen,
and confirmed there April 2, 1950 by the Rev. A.E. Mix
On Aug. 16, 1955, he married Mavis D. Sprengeler at Emmanuel
Lutheran Church Parsonage in Hamburg by the Rev. R.T. Wohlfeil.
Willmer grew up and lived in the Plato area where he worked
as a carpenter and craftsman at Plato Woodwork until the early 1980s. In
1983, he started a cabinet door manufacturing business, Creative Wood Craft,
at Waconia, Minn.
As a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Plato, he served
as a school board member of the Christian day school and as Sunday school
superintendent and teacher. He was also a member of the Men’s Club and men’s
choir.
He and Mavis moved to Waconia in 1987 and joined Trinity
Lutheran Church there.
Willmer was very diverse socially. He enjoyed seasonal
hunting, both firearms and archery. He found fascination with paleontology,
astronomy, and the evaluation of the space program. He liked and collected
a few classic cars. In the past, he took great pleasure in icefishing, bowling,
and country dancing. His family was the light of his life, especially his
grandchildren, who were so precious to him.
He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Douglas Severson;
parents, Emil and Martha Schuette; brother, Roland Schuette; sisters, Norma
Schuette and Joyce Templin; father-in-law, Arthur Sprengeler; brothers-in-law,
Merlin Harjes and Lee Turbett; nieces, Karla Schuette and Deanna Sprengeler;
and nephews, Dean and Dale Sprengeler.
Willmer is survived by his wife Mavis; two sons, Merle
Schuette (wife, Sharon) of Waconia and Mark Schuette (wife, Jean) of Cologne;
three daughters: Monica Schuette (special friend, Bob Mannie) of Jordan;
Wanda Severson of Waconia; and Wendy Mueller (husband Brad) of Norwood Young
America; and grandchildren: Tim, John, and Jillian Schuette; Justin, Micheal,
and Jennifer Schuette; and Blane Severson.
He is further survived by brothers and sisters-in-law,
Myron Schuette (wife, Marianne) of St. Paul and Elton Schuette (wife, Gloria)
of Delano; sisters, Lois Greene (husband, Dave) of Plato and Elaine Schuette
of Glencoe; sister-in-law Dorothy Manning (husband, Bob) of Blaine; brother-in-law,
Earl Templin of Glencoe; mother-in-law, Dora Sprengeler of Glencoe; brothers-in-law
and sisters-in-law: Melvin Sprengeler (wife, Elaine) of Plato; Sylvia Foster
(husband, Bob) of Maple Grove; Myrtle Turbett of Saginaw, Mich.; Rev. Erwin
Sprengeler (wife, Glorian) of Tillamook, Ore.; and Marvin Sprengeler (wife,
Irene) of Plato; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. from Trinity Lutheran
Church, Waconia with the Revs. Dean E. Mahlum and Erwin Sprengeler officiating.
Interment was at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Plato, Minn.
Casket bearers were Willmer’s grandchildren: Tim Schuette,
Justin Schuette, Blane Severson, and John Schuette; and his godchildren:
Kevin Templin and Andy Templin. Honory casket bearers were Jillian Schuette,
Micheal Schuette and Jennifer Schuette.
