A Mass of Christian Burial for Eldora “Dora”
Gertrude Snegosky, age 102 of Colorado Springs, Co., and formerly of Lester
Prairie and Winsted, was Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, 10:30 a.m., at Holy Trinity
Catholic Church, Winsted, with the Rev. Paul Wolff officiating.
The organist was Kelli Fleischacker and the soloist was
Marvin Westermann, who sang “Abide With Me.” Visitation was on
Friday evening from 4-8 p.m. at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel, Lester
Prairie.
Interment was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Winsted. Casket
bearers were Thomas Hester, Thomas Snegosky, Robert Snegosky, Don Snegosky,
Kent Snegosky, and Gary Snegosky.
Eldora was born in St. Michael, Minn. on July 17, 1896,
the daughter of John and Christine (Britten) Michels She was one of 15 children.
On Oct. 27, 1917, she was united in marriage to Leo Snegosky.
For many years, Dora and Leo farmed in Winsted and Lester Prairie.
After Leo’s death in 1954, Dora began a career as a licensed
practical nurse at the Alice Haney Home in Lester Prairie. She finally retired
at the age of 90.
Dora was a member of St. Anne’s Society at Holy Trinity
Church, and was a volunteer for many years at St.Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
On July 28, 1998, Dora entered eternal rest at the age
of 102 years and 11 days at her residence in Colorado Springs. Co.
Dora is survived by her children, Harold Snegosky of Glenwood,
Ariz., Alice Price of Walnut Creek, Calif., Herbert Snegosky (wife, Naomi)
of Fairfield, Calif., Adella Luntey (husband, Robert) of Buhl, Id., Leo
Snegosky (wife, Margaret) of Litchfield, Minn., Carmella MacGuire (husband,
Ed) of Colorado Springs, Co., Janet Scales (husband, Ronald) of Danville,
Calif., and David Snegosky (wife, Priscilla) of Pleasant Hill, Calif.
She is further survived by 35 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren,
a sister, Adele Wolf (husband, Alan) of Waseca, Minn., a daughter-in-law,
Adeline Snegosky of Litchfield, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Eldora is preceded in death by her parents John and Christine
Michels, husband Leo, and children, Esta Huber and Allen Snegosky.
