Leota Lea Wolff, age 78 of Waverly, died Monday, Jan. 5,
1998 at Elim Nursing Home in Watertown.
She was born Sept. 29, 1919, in Re Heights, S.D., to Inez
and Robert Vogelgesang; she had six sisters and one brother.
On May 13, 1947, she married Walter Wolff of Waverly; to
this marriage five children were born. In the early 1960s, she worked for
St. Mary’s Hospital as a cook. She loved to crochet and make quilts and
to garden.
Leota was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter,
and son, Dale.
She is survived by her four children, Elmer Wolff of Waverly,
George Wolff of Chicago, Rosemary Wolff of Waverly, Diana Saukkola of Litchfield;
one granddaughter, Stacy Wolff of Waverly; six sisters, Inez Webster, Mary
Pierce of Garland, Texas, Betty Kleinschmidt, Joyce King of S.D., Celia
Rohrer of Washington, Hazel Brouer of Minnesota; one brother, Robert Vogelgesang
of Oklahoma.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 10 at First Presbyterian
Church at 2 p.m., Howard Lake, with the Rev. James Ellison officiating.
Music was by Diane Johnson.
Interment followed in the Howard Lake Cemetery. Casketbearers
were Ed Claessen, Larry Broll, Lloyd Butterfass, Vernon Yager, Tom Fitzpatrick,
and Ron Broll.
Arrangements were made by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral
Home.
