Maurice Earl Allbee
Maurice Earl Allbee, age 84 of Howard Lake, died Monday, April 24, 2000, at the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Center, Howard Lake.
Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, April 29, 11 a.m., at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Maple Lake, with the Rev. Michael J. McGlauchlin officiating. Burial followed in the parish cemetery.
Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m Friday, April 28, with a prayer service at 6 p.m.; and also after 8 a.m. Saturday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake.
Maurice was born Sept. 9, 1915, on a farm near Huron, S.D., to the late Ellis and Bessie (Wilcox) Allbee.
He married Clarice O'Dougherty June 14, 1941, in St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Maple Lake. Bessie preceded him in death Feb. 3, 1973.
Maurice served his country during World War II from 1942 until 1945 in the U. S. Marine Corp.
In 1947, Maurice bought a farm seven miles north of Howard Lake. where he continued to farm until becoming a resident of the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Center 15 months before his death.
Maurice was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Maple Lake. He enjoyed all sports, especially the Maple Lake Lakers town baseball team. He also enjoyed the Maple Lake Irish football and basketball teams.
Maurice also enjoyed his family and was actively involved with his grandchildren and their activities.
He is survived by eight children and their spouses: Mary Alice (Delmer) Paulsen of Quinn, S.D.; Karen (Michael) Wojciak of Maple Lake, Stephen (Diane) of DunnLoring, Va.; Margaret (Augusto) Anderson of Atwater, Jane (Paul) Beckman of Bloomington, James (Judy) of Howard Lake, Rita (Randy) Kelly of Seattle, Wash.; and Lucille (Jim) Murnane of Aiken.
Maurice is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Lloyd of Cresbard, S. D.; Alice Cooper of Fulkton, S. D.; Lewis of Huron, S. D.; Ione (Duane) Buckley, of Huron, S. D.; and Glenn (Beverly) of Wonsocket, S. D.; 28 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Leo; grandson, David Paulsen; sisters-in-law, Leona (Cooper) Allbee, Charlotte O'Dougherty, and Hortense O'Dougherty, and brothers-in-law, Terrance O'Dougherty, Aquinas O'Dougherty, Msgr. Loyola O'Dougherty, and Russell Cooper.
Pallbearers were Maurice's grandsons: Michael Wojciak Jr., Mark and Matthew Wojciak, Mitchell Allbee, Darren and Thomas Paulsen, and Richard and Kent Anderson. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons, Eric and Jacob Allbee; neighbors, Leo and Edna Vieau, Dennis Vieau, Marcella Major, and Dennis Major.
Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake, handled the arrangements.
