Doris M. Anderson
A funeral Mass for Doris M. Anderson, age 85 of Watertown, Minn., was Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at the Church of Immaculate Conception, Watertown. Doris entered her eternal rest Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at Ridgeview Medical Center, Waconia.
Doris Magdeline Anderson was born May 5, 1914, in Waconia, Minn., the daughter of Charles and Mathilda (Snicker) Lenz. She was baptized May 17, 1914, at the Church of Immaculate Conception, Watertown, by the Rev. Thomas Rehill. She attended school through the eighth grade.
On June 10, 1942, Doris was united in marriage to Melvin Anderson at the Church of Immaculate Conception. The couple made their home on the Anderson farm near Delano, Minn.
After the death of her husband in 1959, Doris purchased her own home in Watertown. She moved to the Hilltop Apartments for a time before moving to Westwood Place.
As a life-long member of her church, Doris was active in the Ladies Guild, as well as volunteering for other varied things and the festival.
Her hobbies included cooking and baking, especially apple pies. She and Jean Kamrath cooked the noon meals at Hilltop Apartments for many years.
At the time of her death, Doris had reached the age of 85 years, nine months, and seven days.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, and a sister.
Doris is survived by three nieces and four nephews: Donna Cummings (husband, Bob) of Circle Pines, Minn.; Joanne Meyer (husband, Melvin) of Blaine, Minn.; Sandy Hedtke (husband, Larry) of Franklin, Minn.; Jim Lenz (wife, Sue) of Elk River; Steven Lenz (wife, Cathy) of Minneapolis; David Lenz (wife, Linda) of Montrose; and Terry Buck (wife, Nancy) of Vergas, Minn.; as well as other relatives and friends.
The Rev. Frank Wampach officiated at the 10:30 a.m. funeral service. The organist was Mary Lou Jink and special music was provided by the Retired Senior Choir. Music selections included "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art," "Be Not Afraid," and "Peace is Flowing Like a River."
Casket bearers were Melvin Meyer, Bob Cummings, Steven Lenz, Bryan Lenz, David Lenz, and Mary Meyer. Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery, Delano.
Funeral arrangements were by the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel, Norwood Young America.
