Otto Gustav Bahr
Funeral services for Otto Gustav Bahr, age 95 of Lester Prairie, were Wednesday, March 24, 1999, 11 a.m. at St Paul Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie with the Rev. Grant Bode officiating. Otto died Monday, March 22, 1999.
The organist for the service was Harriet Seefeldt and the congregational hymns were "Hosanna, Loud Hosanna," "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," "Rock of Ages, Cleft For Me," and "Jesus, Lead Thou On." The soloist, Lawrence Bierman, sang "Jesu, Geh Voran."
Serving as casket bearers were Wallace Ide, Douglas Ide, Michael Ide, Hillard Klaustermeier, Dennis Anfinson and Paul Klaustermeier.
Visitation was on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Otto was born the son of Rhinehardt and Caroline Schroeder Bahr Jan. 2, 1904, in See-Buckow, Germany. He was baptized and confirmed by the Rev. Kaneiss in See-Buckow and attended school in Germany until his confirmation.
In October 1923, Otto came to the United States and made his home with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bahr of Watertown.
Otto was united in marriage to Rosella Ide at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie, on May 26, 1948. In 1947, Otto and Rosella bought a farm in rural Lester Prairie, and Otto continued to live there until his death.
In his younger years, Otto loved to hunt pheasants and ducks and he continued to fish until the last years. Favorite pastimes of his later years were playing cards and smoking his pipe. The thing that Otto enjoyed the most was the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
On Monday, March 22, 1999, Otto entered eternal rest at the Ridgeview Hospital in Waconia at the age of 95 years, two months and 19 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dave; his sister, Minnie; and his brothers, Karl and Gerhard.
Otto is survived by his wife, Rosella of Lester Prairie; a son, Dale (wife, Michelle) of Shakopee; daughter-in-law, Debbra Bahr of Lester Prairie; grandchildren, Chris Bahr, Angie Bahr, Jenny Bahr, Ben Bahr, Brett Bahr, Cole Nesgoda, and Callie Nesgoda; brother-in-law, Walter Ide (wife, Ella) of Lester Prairie; sister-in-law, Orvilla Luehrs of Glencoe; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
