Dan Bennington obituary, 11/14/99


Dan Bennington, age 22 of Fort Carson, Colo. and formerly
of Hutchinson, passed away Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at the University of Colorado
Hospital, Denver, Colo.
Dan was born March 4, 1977, in Hutchinson, Minn. He was
baptized as an infant at Peace Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, and attended
Brownton High School through the seventh grade. He graduated from the Houston
High School in 1995.
In high school, Dan wrestled and played football. He was
an Academic All American and a member of the National Honor Society. His
special interests were coin collecting, fishing, hunting, and spending time
outdoors. He also enjoyed his dog, Chico.
Dan joined the National Guard in 1994, and he later joined
the United States Army, in 1996. He was stationed at Fort Carson Military
Base and was assigned to military intelligence.
At the time of his death, Dan had reached the age of 22
years, eight months, and 10 days. He is survived by his father, Robert Bennington
and “Mom” Lynda Bennington of Brownton; his mother, Cindy Roufs
and step-father, Steven Roufs, of Winsted; soul mate/special friend, Tanya
Kingsley of Houston, Minn.; sisters, Cecily Smoldt, Angela DeMars, and husband,
Joe; Keri Jessen and husband, Jared; Becca Roufs, and Hannah Roufs.
He is further survived by nieces and nephews, Zack Hinze,
Kiersten Hinze, Mason DeMars, Jordan Jessen, Kambri Jessen, and Michael
Reilein; grandmothers, Darlene Halstead and LaVonne Wilke; many aunts and
uncles, other relatives and friends.
Dan was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, 2 p.m., from
Grace Lutheran Church, Brownton, with the Rev. Andrew Hermodson-Olson officiating.
The organist was Elsie Mae Jensen. The soloist, Rosine Hermodson-Olson sang
“Nearer My God To Thee,” and “In The Garden.” Congregational
hymns were “Rock of Ages” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.”
Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Brownton. Casket bearers
were John Gonzales, Joe DeMars, Keith Reilein, Bill Neubarth, Jered Jessen,
and Scott Duellman.
Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson handled the arrangements.
