Kathryn (Kathy) A. Berg
Kathryn (Kathy) A. Berg, age 54 of Watertown, passed away comfortably in her home Saturday, March 4, 2000, after a courageous two-year battle with breast cancer.
Kathy was born March 7, 1945, in Rockford Township to Erwin and Ellen (Hill) Knuth. She graduated from Grove City High School in 1963.
On March 14, 1964, Kathy married Douglas (Doug) Berg. They made their home in Litchfield, where Kathy first worked for Anderson Chemical and then later, for the Litchfield Independent Review.
In 1979, Kathy and Doug moved to Olivia where Kathy became office manager for Brandt Electric. Then, in 1989, they made a move to their current home in Watertown.
In 1990, Kathy started her new job as office manager for Laketown Electric, Waconia, where she worked until July 1999.
Kathy had several different hobbies that she thoroughly enjoyed, including bowling, camping, fishing, knitting, sewing, and enjoying her children and grandchildren.
Kathy is survived by her husband Doug of Watertown; daughter, Karla Berg and special friend, Brian Brabec, of Mayer; sons, Bryon and Tera Berg of Willmar, and Darrin and Jennifer Berg of Buffalo; mother, Ellen Knuth of Litchfield; sister, Barb Keller of Litchfield; brothers, Orlyn and Terry Knuth of Howard Lake, and Dwain and Peg Knuth of Wisconsin; and grandchildren, Jordan and Jessica of Belview, Shawn and Jacob of Willmar, and McKenzie of Buffalo.
She was preceded in death by her father, Erwin Knuth.
Funeral services were Wednesday, March 8, 1 p.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Revs. Paul D. Krentz and Jeff Harter officiating. Jennifer (Stueven) Berg, Kathy's daughter-in-law, was the soloist. Interment will be in the Watertown Community Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kathy's cousins, Ellis Knute, Marlow Knuth, Gaylon Knuth, Steve Friemuth, Rich Friemuth, and close family friends, Nick Defries and Scott Defries.
Visitation was Tuesday, March 7, 4 to 8 p.m., at the Iten Funeral Home, Watertown; and also one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Arrangements were by Iten Funeral Home, Watertown.
