Cheryl J. Berge
Cheryl J. Berge, age 52 of New Germany, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis.
Cheryl was born Jan. 16, 1948, in Watertown, the daughter of Virgil M. and Laverna I. (Guetzkow) Venske. She was baptized Feb. 1, 1948 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, by the Rev. John Meyer, and confirmed there March 26, 1961, by the Rev. Henry Weseloh.
Cheryl was a graduate of Waconia High School.
She worked at Gelco, which is now G. E. Capital in Eden Prairie, for 35 years.
Cheryl loved her granddaughter, Alicia. She also loved to dance.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Jessica Berge of Glencoe; granddaughter, Alicia Berge; mother, Laverna Venske of New Germany; brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie and Linda Venske of New Germany; nephew, Ryan Venske of New Germany, special friend, Gene Femrite of Shakopee; uncles, aunts, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Cheryl was preceded in death by a son, Brian, in infancy; her father, Virgil Venske, and her grandparents.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2 p.m., at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, with the Rev. Vicar Allen D. Holthus officiating. Interment was at St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery, New Germany.
Lyle Lehrke, Dennis Henning, Jim Noerenberg, Ron Venske, Jim Anderson, Richard Trittabaugh, and Don Wellnitz served as casket bearers.
Arrangements were by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
