LaVerne Elsie Boltz
LaVerne Elsie (Anderson) Boltz, age 82 of Cokato, passed away Sunday, April 4, 1999, at Hutchinson Community Hospital.
LaVerne was born May 11, 1916 to Arthur and Mayme Engel Anderson. She was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake and confirmed at a Lutheran church in Buffalo.
As a young child, the family lived in Howard Lake, Buffalo, Waverly, and eventually, Cokato. LaVerne graduated from Cokato High School in 1935.
On Feb. 21, 1937, LaVerne married Orville Boltz in Detroit, Mich. They stayed a short time in Michigan and then moved back to Cokato, where LaVerne spent the rest of her life.
LaVerne was a housewife and mother. She farmed with Orville northwest of Cokato for many years. For a short time, she worked at Tonka Toys in Mound. Orville retired from farming in the early 1960s and the couple moved to town.
LaVerne entered the Cokato Manor a few years ago and resided there until her hospitalization at Hutchinson Community Hospital, where she passed away at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 24 days.
LaVerne is survived by her son Bradley (Lisa) Boltz of Howard Lake; grandchildren: Lisa Becker, Bradley Boltz, Jr., Brett Boltz, Brian Boltz, Adam Boltz, Joshua Boltz, Calep Boltz, Joseph Boltz, Rachel Boltz; great-grandchildren: Jamie Boltz, Aleah Becker, Sabrina Becker, Elizabeth Boltz, Mitchell Boltz, Megan Boltz, Brianna Boltz, Alissa Boltz, and Tyler Boltz; a brother, Myron (Jinny) Anderson; and sisters, Fern (Fizz) Copouls and Ardis (Daniel) Graham.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Orville; infant daughters Janice and Pamela; and a sister, Leone Varcoe.
Funeral services were Thursday, April 8, 1999, 1:30 p.m., at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cokato with the Rev. John Peterson officiating. Music was by Karen Anderson and Pat Benson. Interment was in Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Joel Anderson, Bradley Boltz, Jr., Brian Boltz, Adam Boltz, Brett Boltz, and Stuart Johnson. Honorary casket bearers were Calep Boltz, Joseph Boltz, and Joshua Boltz.
Arrangements were by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home, Inc., Cokato and Howard Lake.
