Clarence Louis Bonine
Clarence Louis Bonine, age 78 of Plato, died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999. A Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at the Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe.
Clarence was born the son of Frank and Mary Schlagel Bonine on June 10, 1920 in Grafton Township, Sibley County, Minn. He grew up in rural Stewart and later in Brownton and received the sacraments of baptism and confirmation in the Catholic faith.
On June 22, 1941 Clarence was united in marriage to Marie Steck. The couple farmed by New Auburn and later, Winsted, before moving to rural Plato in 1967.
Clarence enjoyed farming, listening and dancing to old time music, and spending time with his family. At the time of his death, he had reached the age of 78 years, six months and 21 days.
Clarence is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Darwin; son-in-law, Elvin Lindermeier; brothers, Alex and Frank; sisters, Veronica, Frances, Agnes, and Vivian.
He is survived by his wife Marie of Winsted; children: Shirley Fitzpatrick and husband, Tom, of Green Isle; Lawrence Schmidt and wife, Jean, of Arlington; Darlene Poppler and husband, Lee, of Watertown; Lonny Bonine of Norwood Young America; Milan Bonine and wife, Joyce, of Plato; and a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Bonine of Bloomington.
Clarence is further survived by his grandchildren: Bonnie Peacher and husband, Jim; Diane Alsleben and husband, Leon; Wendy Bigouette and husband, Francis, Jr.; Rodney Lindemeier and wife, Patty; Laurie Rickard and husband, Wayne; Kristie Lindemeier; Bruce Schmidt and wife, Gail; Brian Schmidt and wife, Carla; Brenda Reinert and husband, Tim; Michelle DeLong and husband, Darren; Debra Bonine; Tamara Poppler; Lisa Read and husband, Tim; Tony Poppler and fiance, Amy Yaunich; Julie Poppler; Tamara Cibrusky; Wes Bonine; Chad Bonine; and Melissa Bonine; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Officiating at the mass was the Rev. Eugene Lozinski. The organist was Emily Wilkins, the song leader was Wendy Bigouette, and the lector was Teddy Klobe.
Congregational hymns were "On Eagle's Wings," "Amazing Grace," "I Am The Bread of Life," "Come To His Aid," and "How Great Thou Art."
Casket bearers were Francis Bigouette Jr., Bruce Schmidt, Brian Schmidt, Tony Poppler, Wes Bonine, and Chad Bonine. Interment was in the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation and parish prayer service was on Sunday evening at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
