Augusta Marie Bruckschen

Funeral services for Augusta Marie Bruckschen, age 81 of Glencoe, were Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at the First Ev. Lutheran Church, Glencoe. Augusta died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999.

She was born the daughter of Paul and Anna (Koerschen) Richter on April 10, 1918, in Bergen Township, McLeod County, Minn. She was baptized on April 21, 1918, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie, by Rev. W. Baumhefener. She was confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church by the Rev. J. A. Schert on March 20, 1932.

Augusta attended country school near Lester Prairie.

On June 28, 1939, she was united in marriage to Maynard Bruckschen at St. Peter Lutheran by Schert. The couple made their home in Bergen Township, where they engaged in farming.

After her husband's death in 1968, Augusta continued living on the farm until moving to Glencoe in 1977. In April of 1998, she became a resident at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center.

On Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, Augusta entered eternal rest at the age of 81 years, six months, and six days. She is preceded in death by her parents; her foster parents, Herman and Bertha Kruschke; an infant son; and brothers, Paul and Henry Richter.

Augusta is survived by her children: Ernie Bruckschen of Glencoe; Ruby Pollmann (husband, Edward) of Glencoe; and Dean Bruckschen (wife, Karla) of Arlington; grandchildren, Gary Popelka of Glencoe; Charles Popelka of New Auburn; Tiffany Brockhoff (husband, Jason); Melissa Bruckschen; Jeffrey Bruckschen; and Jennifer Bruckschen, all of Arlington; and great-grandchildren, Nathan Thunstrom and Taylor Alseben.

She is further survived by a brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ray and Laverna Bruckschen, and Lois Bruckschen, all of Glencoe; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Officiating at the 2 p.m. funeral service was the Rev. Harvey Kath. The organist was Mary Heubert. The congregational hymns were "What A Friend We Have In Jesus," "Lord, Take My Hand And Lead Me," and I'm But A Stranger Here."

Serving as casket bearers were Charles Popelka, Gary Popelka, Jeffrey Bruckschen, Benjamin Franke, Jason Brockhoff, and Vernon Ide. Interment was in the First Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation was from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
