Robert F. "Bob" Carlsten
Robert F. "Bob" Carlsten, age 70 of Fridley, died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at Unity Hospital in Fridley.
He was born on Feb. 21, 1929, in Aitkin, Minn., the son of Frederick and Julia Borg Carlsten.
Robert graduated from Crosby - Ironton High School and later, honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On Sept. 26, 1953, Robert was joined in holy marriage to Adeline Kieser at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with a daughter, Barbara.
He was employed as a postal clerk at the Minneapolis Post Office for more than 30 years.
Bob was a member of St. William Catholic Church in Fridley. He also belonged to American Legion Post #303 and V.F.W. Post #363, both in Fridley.
Bob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who smoothed out the bumps in life for the rest of us.
He is survived by his wife Adeline; his daughter, Barbara (Thomas) Bashaw of Andover; grandchildren, Rob and Chris Bashaw; sisters, Darlene (Dick) Daly and Carol (Al) Goede, all of Two Harbors; sisters-in-law and brothers in law, Sister Gratian Kieser, OSF, Campbellsport, Wis.; Elmerine (George) Lachermeier and Marvin (Viola) Kieser, all of Winsted.
Bob is further survived by nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, many other relatives and friends; as well as the "boys at the doughnut shop."
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Floyd Carlsten and Ted Carlsten; and a sister, Millie MacAllister.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, May 21, 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the celebrant and interment with military rites followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted Thursday, May 20, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continued at the funeral home on Friday, May 21, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Lavon Kielkucki provided special music for the Mass.
Doug Lachermeier, Tom Hertzog, Dick Daly, Everett Davies, Tom Schuster and Herb Englund served as casket bearers.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
