Gladys Katarina Cohrs
Funeral services for Gladys Katarina Cohrs, 86, of Arlington and formerly of rural Glencoe were held on Friday, Nov. 3, from First Lutheran Church in Glencoe, with the Rev. Harvey Kath officiating.
Mrs. Cohrs died on Monday morning, Oct. 30, 2000, at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center on the day of her husband's funeral.
The organist was Mary Huebert, and the congregation sang "Rock Of Ages" and "Beautiful Savior." Soloist Lawrence Biermann sang "The Lord's Prayer."
Pallbearers were Dick Gebhardt, Leonard Lange, Russell Gebhardt, Craig Gebhardt, Calvin Wolter and Glenn Ehrke. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Gladys Katarina Gebhardt was born on June 23, 1914, in Winsted Township, McLeod County, to Christ and Anna (Schroeder) Gebhardt.
She was baptized on July 19, 1914, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Bergen Township by the Rev. W. Gereve and confirmed at the same church by the Rev. J. Schert on April 1, 1928. Her education was through the eighth grade.
On Sept. 5, 1937, she was united in marriage to Ewald H. Cohrs at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Bergen Township. The couple operated two other farms before purchasing a farm southwest of Glencoe.
After retirement, they continued residing on the farm until January of this year when they became residents at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
Mrs. Cohrs was an active 4-H leader and First Lutheran Church Missionary Society member. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed making quilts, and maintained large gardens of flowers and vegetables.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons, Carol Swenson and husband, Allen, of Litchfield, Elaine White and husband, Larry, of Mayer, Betty Smith and husband, Richard, of Green Isle, Dennis Cohrs and wife, Joy, of Glencoe and Donovan Cohrs and wife, Patricia, of Glencoe.
She is further survived by 12 grandchildren; Cheryl Loge and husband, Rick, Cory Holm and wife, Kate, Michele Tollefson and husband, Mark, Kelly Bondurak and husband, Bill, Todd White and wife, Steph, Leslie Holm, Sherry Rodriguez and husband, Jeff, Tara White, Andy Cohrs, Keri Cohrs, Crystal Cohrs and Amy Cohrs; nine great-grandchildren, Kristine Loge, Mitchell Loge, Joshua Tollefson, Zachary Tollefson, Emily Tollefson, Seth Holm, Jaidyn Cohrs, Macayla White and LilyAnne Rodriguez; brothers and sisters, Orlando Gebhardt and wife: Marcella, of Howard Lake, Cinderella McQuay of Tucson, Ariz., and Alex Gebhardt and wife, RoseAnn, of Union Hill; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rosa Gebhardt, Elizabeth Cohrs and Maynard Ehrke, all of Glencoe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son; three brothers, Roy, Christoph and Leonard Gebhardt; and sister, Rosella.
The Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel of Glencoe handled arrangements.
