Aelred E. DesMarais
Aelred E. DesMarais, age 74 of Buffalo, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999 at the Monticello-Big Lake Community Hospital.
Aelred was born in Marysville Township, Oct. 19, 1924, the son of Leroy and Edith Hance DesMarais. Aelred lived his entire life on his family's homestead.
On June 30, 1953, he was joined in holy marriage to Norita R. Kasper at The Church of St. Michael, St. Michael, Minn. God blessed their marriage with 10 children: Edith, Elaine, Daniel, David, Evelyn, Mary, Michael, Anita, Arnold and Benet.
Aelred was a long-time licensed livestock dealer. He enjoyed his business very much and especially enjoyed his contacts with people and animals.
He was a faithful life-long member of The Church of St. Francis in Buffalo.
Aelred is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Norita; children: Edie (Roger) Kloss of Waverly, Elaine DesMarais of Minneapolis, David DesMarais of Rockford and friend Sandi Olson, Mary (Robert) Smith of Maple Lake, Arnie DesMarais of Buffalo, Ben DesMarais of Buffalo and fiancee Jennifer Deeb; grandchildren, Vanessa Kloss and Jacinda Kloss, Robby Smith and Lindsey Smith; brothers and sister, Dominic (Adeline) DesMarais of Buffalo, Osmund "O.J." (Adeline) DesMarais of Maple Lake, Lomer (Doris) DesMarais of Buffalo, Harding DesMarais of Keithville, La.; Marah (M.T.) (Mabel) DesMarais of Buffalo, and Camella (James) Campbell of Maple Lake.
He is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Evelyn, Michael, Anita, and Daniel; a brother, Alden DesMarais; sisters, Ethel Olson and Gladys Larson; parents-in-law August and Bridget Kasper; and a brother-in-law, Lewis Kasper.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, March 2, 1999, 10 a.m., at the Church of St. Francis in Buffalo with the Rev. Charles L. Froehle as the celebrant and a private interment at St. Francis Cemetery.
Friends called at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo Monday, March 1 from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Casket bearers were George Larson, Curt DesMarais, Jerome DesMarais, Steve DesMarais, Paul Barthel and Gerry Larson.
Honorary casket bearers were Aelred's grandchildren: Vanessa Kloss, Jacinda Kloss, Robby Smith, and Lindsey Smith.
