Sylvia Emma Dibb
Funeral services for Sylvia E. Dibb, age 95 of Lester Prairie, were Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, 11 a.m., from Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie with the Rev. Grant T. Bode officiating.
Sylvia died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999 at St. Mary's Care Center, Winsted.
Sylvia Emma (Zebell) Dibb was born in Lester Prairie, Minn., on Sept. 8, 1903, the daughter of Albert and Ida (Kuhlmann) Zebell. She was baptized Oct. 4, 1903, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie by the Rev. G. Buescher, and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie April 1, 1917, by the Rev. M. Weinholt. Sylvia's education was through the eighth grade.
On Aug. 9, 1925, Sylvia was united in marriage to Earl L. Dibb by the Rev. A. Spleiss at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
Sylvia was a lifelong member of the community, serving her church as a Sunday school teacher, ladies aid member, and LWML member.
Her hobbies included baseball, fishing, cooking, baking, and playing cards. She was also active in the garden club and the bridge club.
For the past two years, Sylvia had been a resident of St. Mary's Care Center in Winsted, Minn., and it was there that she entered her eternal rest at the age of 95 years, five months, and 14 days.
Sylvia's husband, Earl, preceded her in death in March, 1975. She was also preceded by her parents, two grandsons and one granddaughter; as well as three sisters and one brother.
She is survived by four sons: Earl Dibb Jr. (wife, La June) of Clear Lake, Minn.; Doug Dibb (wife, Arlene), Wally Dibb (wife, Shirley), and Lyle Dibb (wife, Sandra), all of Lester Prairie; a sister LaVerna Hupe of Blue Island, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
The organist for the funeral service was Jane Holasek and the congregation sang "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," "Amazing Grace," and "I'm But A Stranger Here." The soloist, Chuck Thiel, sang "In The Garden." The cross bearer was Melanie Renk and Saint Paul's LWML sat as an honorary group. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were Jon Dibb, Steven Dibb, Kirk Dibb, Kent Dibb, Debra Smilanich, and Corrie Kvasnicka. Honorary bearers were Russell Dibb, Bruce Dibb, William Dibb, David Dibb, Kraig Dibb, Keith Dibb, and Martin Dibb.
Visitation was Wednesday evening at the Paul-McBride Chapel in Lester Prairie.
