Lucille M. Diers
Lucille M. Diers, age 82 of Hutchinson, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 3, 1999, at the Hutchinson Community Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, April 7, 1999, 2 p.m., from St. John's Catholic Church in Darwin, Minn., with the Rev. Fred Fink officiating. Organist was Bonnie Westmiller and song leader was Bobbi Cogley.
Casket bearers were Gordon Lemke, Tim Fallon, Paul Fallon, Dick Munter, Mark Scoutz and Duane Bergmann. Interment was in the St. Anastasia Catholic Cemetery in Hutchinson.
As Lucille was laid to rest with her husband and family members in the little cemetery of St. Anastasia, horses grazing nearby turned to the strains of the Irish bagpipe which played for her.
She and her husband, Elmer "Jake" Diers, were well known within the Mora and Elk River communities for their fine paint horses. They welcomed a steady flow of friends who shared this interest. Her kitchen was well known for its supply of good coffee, homemade pastries and conversation that catered on mares, foals, and the beautiful stallions visitors traveled states to see.
Lucille was born in Hutchinson, Minn., Aug. 30, 1916. She was an energetic, outgoing person who, after the death of her husband a year earlier, was warmly welcomed back to the town of her birth by family and friends.
Lucille is survived by her daughter, Colleen Lau Patterson of Girdwood, Alaska; sisters, Evelyn Keller of Hutchinson and Katherine Davis of Boseman, Mont.; brother, Levi Fallon of Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Maureen Fallon of Dassel; father-in-law, Walter Lau of West St. Paul; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Agnes Fallon; her husband, Jake Diers; brothers, Richard, Dan, Harvey and Tony Fallon; and sisters, Nellie Fallon, Lauretta Fallon Otich and Mary Fallon Niess.
