Carol Jean Engel
Carol Jean Engel, age 54 of Hopkins and formerly of Howard Lake, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.
Carol was born May 21, 1946, in St. Cloud, the daughter of Harold and Helen (Haase) Bluhm. She was baptized June 9, 1946, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fairhaven, by the Rev. John Beck.
She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith April 10, 1960, at St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, by the Rev. Gerhardt C. Michael.
Carol graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1964. She later attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis, and received an accounting degree.
Carol is survived by her children, Jodi (Todd) Dalbec of Buffalo, and Jason Engel of Golden Valley; grandchildren, Paige and Trevor, and Jason; special friend, Brad Engel; sisters and brother, Marlene Lasher of Salt Lake City, Utah; Ginger (Don) St. John of Plymouth, Debbie (Jim) Lutgen of Mahtomedi, and Phil (Laurie) Bluhm of Watertown; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 17, 2 p.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Buffalo, with the Rev. Rebecca M. Sogge officiating. Organist for the service was Diane Johnson and special music was provided by the Rev. Sogge and Phyllis Bengtson.
Congregational hymns were "Here I Am Lord," "Lord's Prayer,"and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Interment was in Howard Lake Cemetery.
Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16 at the Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Casket bearers were Chris Lutgen, Jason Lutgen, Kevin St. John, John Cochran, Ted Utne and Tom Main.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
