Reinhold Fredrick Gabbert
Reinhold Fredrick Gabbert, age 85 of Howard Lake, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at Howard Lake Good Samaritan Care Center.
Reinhold was born Oct. 2, 1915, at Howard Lake, the son of August and Gertrude (Streich) Gabbert. He was baptized into the Christian faith Oct. 24, 1915, at St. James Lutheran Church by the Rev. A. L. Oetjen; and confirmed in his faith June 23, 1929, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elgin, N.D., by the Rev. George Landgrebe.
On April 9, 1944, Reinhold was united in marriage to Myrtle Wolff at St. James Lutheran Church by the Rev. E. N. Seltz. This union was blessed with the birth of a son.
The Gabbert family made their home on a farm southwest of town, owning and operating a dairy farm. He received numerous awards and was recognized as a leader in the Wright County area for his dairy herd's production and butterfat content.
Reinhold served as a board member of the Wright County DHIA, the MN Valley Breeders Association, and as chairman of the board for the Cokato Farmers Mercantile, which most recently was known as Midland Coop.
He enjoyed bowling as a hobby.
His church activities included singing in the choir and serving as an elder.
At the time of his death, Reinhold had reached the age of 85 years, one month, and two days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Gertrude Gabbert; his wife, Myrtle; two sisters, Lenora Munson and Ardell Leslie; one brother-in-law, Andrew Leslie; and two great-grandsons, Brandon and Dylan Gabbert.
Reinhold is survived by his son, Paul Gabbert and wife, Patti, of Howard Lake; two grandsons, Shon Gabbert and wife, Jackie, of Chanhassen, and Justin Gabbert and wife, Angela, of Howard Lake; two granddaughters, Lisa Gabbert of Maple Lake, and Amy Gabbert of Howard Lake; one great-granddaughter, Taylor Gabbert; one brother-in-law, Vernon Munson of Fresno, Calif.; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services took place Wednesday, Nov. 8, at St. James Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Michael Nirva and Martin Schoenfeld officiating. Diane Johnson was the organist. Interment was at the Howard Lake Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Klammer, Willis Birkholz, Lorren Glessing, Justin Gabbert, LeRoy Engstrom, and Holdrein Oelke.
Visitation was Tuesday, Nov. 7, 4 to 9 p.m., at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake, with a prayer service at 8 p.m., and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Arrangements were by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake.
