Roger H. "Doc" Garman

Roger H. "Doc" Garman, age 72 and formerly of Howard Lake, passed away Saturday, May 29, 1999, in Gould Township, Cass County, Minn.

Roger was born Sept. 24, 1927, at Howard Lake. He was a switchman for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 37 years, retiring in 1983.

Roger served in the U. S. Army and was a member of the Waite Park American Legion.

"Doc" is survived by his wife Doris, nee Tolifson; children: Jackie Nelson of Clearwater, Ginger Akerson of Ely, Kim Garman of Willmar, and Karen Patton of Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Garman of St. Cloud; an uncle, Alfred Barth of Minneapolis; an aunt, Margaret Barth of Howard Lake; and several cousins in Howard Lake and Minneapolis.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Matilda (Barth) Garman and a sister, Arliss Haase.

Funeral services were Friday, June 4, 1999, at the Daniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Stroschein officiating.
