Anthony (Tony) Hagemann
Anthony (Tony) Hagemann, age 73 of Little Falls and formerly of Fort Ripley, died Monday, April 24, at the Veterans Medical Center, St. Cloud.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, April 28, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Belle Prairie, with the Rev. Harold Kost officiating. Burial was in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, north of Little Falls.
Friends called from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 27, with a prayer service at 8 p.m.; and also on Friday, April 28, from 8 to 10 a.m., at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls.
Anthony was born Jan. 10, 1927, in St. Martin, Stearns County, Minn., to the late Joseph and Theresia (Schwab) Hagemann. As a young boy, he lived in St. Martin. His family later moved to Minneapolis, where he attended school.
Following his schooling, Anthony moved back to St. Martin for a couple of years, where he lived and farmed with his uncle.
On Dec. 4, 1944, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Anthony received an honorable discharge on Aug. 14, 1946.
On Jan. 25, 1947, Anthony was united in marriage to Jennie Carlson in Minneapolis. After their marriage, Anthony and Jennie moved to Bellvidere, Ill. In 1956, the couple relocated to Fort Ripley, Minn., where they farmed in Ripley Township, until retiring in September 1989.
Jennie died Nov. 5, 1996. In February 1999, Anthony moved to the Pine Grove Manor, Little Falls. He became a resident of the Veterans Medical Center, Minneapolis, in July 1999, and later, moved to the St. Cloud Veterans Medical Center, where he resided until his death.
Anthony was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Belle Prairie. He enjoyed sports of all kinds and playing cards.
He is survived by sons and daughters, Gary D. Hagemann and wife, Becky, of Howard Lake; Joe C. Hagemann and wife, Cindy, Ron A. Hagemann and wife, Nancy, and Nancy Kohl and husband, Al, all of Fort Ripley; Theresa M. Rice and husband, Daniel, of Graybull, Wyo.; and Judy Buckingham and husband, Bob, of Little Falls; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Anthony is further survived by a brother, Ralph Hagemann and wife, Joan, of Brooklyn Center; and sisters, Fran Theisen and husband, Robert, of Brooklyn Center, and Laura Chavis of Coon Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie; parents; and brothers, Bernard, Herbert, and Raymond Hagemann.
Casketbearers were Jeremy and Tony Kuebelbeck; Justin, Benjamin, and Josiah Hagemann; Greg Kohl; and Bert and Michael Rice. Barb and Sarah Kohl; Nichole Kuebelbeck; and Jacob, Ashley, Kala, and Michelle Hagemann were honorary pallbearers.
Arrangements were by the Shelley Funeral Chapel, Little Falls.
