Olga W. Halvorson

Funeral services for Olga W. Halvorson, age 88 of Glencoe and formerly of Lester Prairie, were Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at Bethel Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie. Olga died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at the Glencoe Area Health Center.

Olga was born Sept. 3, 1912, in Norwood, Minn., the daughter of Herman and Bertha (Buckentin) Kramer. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church, Norwood Young America, by the Rev. A. Baumhoefener; and confirmed her faith April 6, 1926, at the same church by the Rev. M. F. Abraham.

Olga attended St. John's Parochial School through the eighth grade and graduated from Central High School, Norwood Young America.

On Aug. 14, 1943, Olga was united in marriage to Edwin Halvorson at St. John's Lutheran Church by the Rev. W. P. Kramer. When married, Olga and Edwin moved to the Halvorson family farm for six years, until they purchased their own farm on Highway 212 near Plato.

In 1997, Edwin and Olga sold their farm and moved to Lester Prairie, where they lived until this year, when they moved to Orchard Estates, Glencoe.

Olga was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Norwood Young America, until her marriage to Edwin. She then became a member of the Bergen Township Country Church that is now known as Bethel Lutheran Church of Lester Prairie.

An active member of Bethel Lutheran Ladies Aid, Olga was a member of the Martha Circle.

She liked to crochet, play cards, and go dancing. Olga's favorite love was her family, and any time that she could spend with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildrn was very precious to her.

At the time of her death, Olga had reached the age of 88 years and 24 days.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Bertha Kramer; her husband, Edwin; and her brother, Harold Kramer.

Olga is survived by her daughters, Doris H. Coe (husband, Larry) of Watertown, Mass., and Jean M. Culver (husband, Kevin) of Lake Oswego, Ore.; grandchildren, Julie Coe, Maggie Coe, Peter Coe, Amy Carlton (husband, Robert), Tracy Wilson (husband, Gregory), and Nicole Schneider (husband, Jeffrey); and great-grandchildren, Ian and Mia Schneider.

She is further survived by her siblings, Laura Hatleli (husband, Cyrus) of Rushford, Helen Huser of Lester Prairie, and Hilton Kramer (wife, Ruth) of Norwood Young America; a sister-in-law, Irene Schrupp of Glencoe; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The Rev. Sherri Sandoz officiated at the 11 a.m. funeral service. The organist was Jan Smith and the congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace," "The King Of Love My Shepherd Is," and "On Our Way Rejoicing." "In The Garden" was sung as a duet by the Rev. Sandoz and Claire Larson. Interment was in the Bergen Cemetery in rural Lester Prairie.

Serving as casket bearers were Larry Coe, Kevin Culver, Julie Coe, Maggie Coe, Peter Coe, Amy Carlton, Tracy Wilson, and Nicole Schneider.

Visitation was Friday, Sept. 29, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel, Lester Prairie.
