Josephine M. "Josie" Heimerl
Josephine M. "Josie" Quast Heimerl, age 97, formerly of Lester Prairie, died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at the St. Mary's Care Center.
Josephine was born April 7, 1902, in Winsted, the daughter of Paul and Mary (Sterner) Quast. She was baptized at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted on April 13, 1902.
On Nov. 24, 1924, Josie was joined in holy marriage to Edward J. Heimerl at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Josie and Edward engaged in farming west of Winsted for many years. The couple moved into Lester Prairie in the early 1950s.
After moving to Lester Prairie, Josie worked for many years at the Alice Haney Home.
Edward Heimerl preceded his wife in death in 1970.
Josie was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
She is survived by daughters, Lucille (Mark) Cafferty and Florentine Cafferty, all of St. Paul; sons, Ray (Vera) Heimerl and Edward (Darlene) Heimerl, all of New Brighton, Robert Heimerl of Inver Grove Heights and Richard (Marlene) Heimerl of Prior Lake; a daughter-in-law, Agnes Heimerl of New Brighton; 30 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by a sister, Agnes (Conrad) Krueger of Chaska; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Josie was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Quast; sons, Herman Heimerl and Donald Heimerl; daughters-in-law, Anna Mae Heimerl and Patricia Heimerl; a son-in-law, John Cafferty; brothers, August Quast and Louis Quast; and sisters, Helena Scheiber and Justina Krueger.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, July 31, 1999, 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with the Rev. Paul L. Wolf as the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Lavon Kielkucki provided special music for the Mass.
Eugene Cafferty, Dan Cafferty, Larry Heimerl, Tom Heimerl, Rick Heimerl and Jim Heimerl served as the casket bearers.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted on Friday, July 30, from 5 to 9 p.m. There was a prayer service Friday, July 30, 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
