Albert E. Heuer
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 11, for Albert E. Heuer, age 79 of Waconia, who died at his residence Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000.
Albert was born April 28, 1921 at Camden Township, Carver County, Minn., the son of Ferdinand and Amelia (Lubitz) Heuer. He was baptized May 29, 1921 at Frieden County Line Church, Plato, by the Rev. H. J. Rath; and confirmed April 14, 1935, at the same church by the Rev. E. U. Hafermann. His confirmation verse was 1Corinthians 16, verse 13 and 14.
Albert worked on his father's farm and in 1941, graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in agriculture.
On June 5, 1947, Albert married Evelyn E. Dehning Hahn at St. John's Lutheran Church, Helen Township, Glencoe, by the Rev. H. H. Schaller. Albert and Evelyn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 8, 1997, with many family and friends.
Albert worked for Matz and Pinske in Arlington where he was a builder of schools and churches. In 1949, he bought a farm northeast of Mayer. There he farmed and sold DeKalb seed corn until March 1967, when he sold the farm and moved to Waconia.
Albert worked in Watertown Canning Factory and was Watertown Township Assessor for 10 years. After selling the farm in 1967, he was employed by Bertelson Brothers, Minneapolis, for 18 years as a delivery man of office supplies.
After retiring from there in June, 1986, he spent seven years driving a school bus for Waconia schools. In addition, he was also employed for seven years by the City of Waconia in a janitorial position. Currently, Albert was driving cars for North Star Auto Auction, located in Shakopee.
Albert was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer, where he held numerous church offices and was a church elder for 12 years. In addition, he recorded Sunday church services and delivered them to the elderly for seven years, was a delegate to the synodical convention in St. Paul, and was the church representative to Minnesota South Church Extension Fund for 13 years.
With God's help, Albert enjoyed many full years of working with people and cherishing family and friends.
For many years, Albert and Evelyn were members of a fan club for old time music and dancing.
Over the years, he enjoyed many opportunities to spend time with his family boating and fishing, and going to basketball and softball games. Any time a basket, a home run, or even a base hit was made, you would see his chin and lip quiver with emotion.
Albert is preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Amelia Heuer; sisters, Edna Heuer and Anna Koerschen; and brothers, Leonard, Arthur, and Melvin Heuer.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn; children and spouses, Joleen and Leon Guetzkow of Mayer, Allen and Jan Heuer of Waconia, and Melanie Heuer of Waconia; and grandchildren, Rick and Heidi Guetzkow, Chris and Laura Guetzkow, Nicole Heuer and friend, Mike Fritshe, Kelly Heuer, Cori Schmakel, Dana Schmakel, and Sarah Schmakel.
