Harlan A. Hilk
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 27, 1999, for Harlan A. Hilk, age 61 of Lester Prairie. Harlan died Friday, July 23, 1999, at St. Mary's Care Center, Winsted.
Harlan was born Oct. 2, 1937, at New Germany, Minn., the son of Henry O. and Eleanora L. (Noerenberg) Hilk. He was baptized Oct. 17, 1937, at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Township, by the Rev. W. L. Ernst; and confirmed there April 6, 1952 by the same.
On May 23, 1959, Harlan married Kathleen M. Kassen at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie, by the Rev. A. F. Vomhof.
Harlan worked at Tonka Toys for 25 years. He also served in the Army reserve.
Harlan was a member of the Oldtimers softball team, the New Germany baseball team, and the New Germany Fire Department. He loved to hunt, fish, play horseshoes, bowl, and spend time with his grandchildren.
Harlan held various church offices, including positions as an elder and on the school board.
Survivors include his wife Kathy; children and spouses: Kristin and John Davis of Deerwood, Brian and Theresa Hilk of Watertown, Michelle and Scott Herlund of Moundsview, Melanie and John Caulfield of St. Bonifacius; and grandchildren Brandon and Colin Hilk.
He is further survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Lyla and Frank Ebright of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; Janet Greene of Springfield, N.J.; and Luaine and Gerald Burmeister of Cosmos; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willard and Esther Kassen of Lester Prairie; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, LaVonne and Lyle Stock of Shell Lake, Wis., and Diane and Doug Ittel of New Germany; aunts and uncles, Roy Noerenberg of Winsted, Lorena Noerenberg and Hilda Noerenberg of New Germany, and Clara Lobitz and Ruth Hilk of Waconia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Eleanora Hilk; and a sister, Linda Dack.
The Rev. Ronald L. Mathison officiated at the 2 p.m. funeral services at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Township, New Germany. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were Tad Marsalis, Scott Marsalis, Jason Burmeister, Nathan Burmeister, Jamey Hecksel, Troy Goede, Ryan Hedtke, and Chad Ittel.
The Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia, handled the arrangements.
