Wilmer John Hoernemann
Funeral services for Wilmer J. Hoernemann, 84, of Norwood Young America were held Jan. 22 at Friedens County Line Church, rural Norwood Young America, with the Rev. Gene Sipprell officiating.
Mr. Hoernemann died on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999.
The organist was Carol Heuer. The congregational hymns were "Abide With Me," "Amazing Grace" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."
The pallbearers were Dave Abeler, Mark Aarvig, Tony Brown, Dan Eibs, Skip Sorrell and Hilary Hoof. Interment was in the Ferguson Cemetery in rural Norwood Young America.
Wilmer John Hoernemann was born to Henry and Dorothea (Keusemann) Hoernemann on Jan. 17, 1915 in Young America Township of Carver County. He was baptized Feb. 14, 1915 at the Friedens County Line Church by the Rev. W.G. Rath. He was confirmed March 24, 1929 at Friedens by the Rev. E.U. Hafermann. He attended rural school, District 39.
On Aug. 24, 1939 he was united in marriage with Melva Fruetel at the Church of Peace in Norwood Young America. The couple made their home on the Hoernemann farm until the early 1960s, when they moved to Norwood Young America.
Mr. Hoernemann owned and operated a meat market in Norwood Young America for nine years. He was a member of the Young America Sportsmen's Club, a life-long member of Friedens County Line Church and a church choir member.
He enjoyed singing, watching sports, bowling, fishing, hunting and visiting.
Surviving are his daughters, Jolene Aarvig and husband, Donald, of Coon Rapids and Pat Kroells and husband, Lowell, of Green Isle; grandchildren, Mark Aarvig and wife, Maria, of California, Cheryl Sorrell and husband, Skip, of Coon Rapids, Donna Woolridge of Colorado, Brenda Abeler and husband, David, of Coon Rapids, Stacy Brown and husband, Tony, of Coon Rapids, Jan Eibs and husband, Dan, of Henderson; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Courtney and Kira Aarvig, Shaina and Brianna Sorrell, Alissa, Olivia, Micaela, Dierra and Shea Abeler, Anthony and Alexander Brown, Jessica and Courtney Eibs; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Merlin and Helen Fruetel of Norwood Young America and Harlan Fruetel of California; niece, Dorothy Herrmann and husband, Delmer, of Glencoe; and nephew, Hilary Hoof and wife, Percy, of Norwood Young America; as well as many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one sister, Hulda Hoof.
The Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel of Norwood Young America handled arrangements.
