Leon C. Hucky

Leon C. Hucky, age 73 of Waconia, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, at Ridgeview Medical Center, Waconia.

Leon was born April 17, 1927, at Waconia, the son of Michael and Theresa (Schmitt) Huckenpoehler. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Leon served in the Marine Corps from 1944 to 1947.

On Sept. 1, 1948, Leon married Doris M. Simon at St. Boniface Catholic Church, St. Bonifacius.

Hucky retired from NSP as a forman on the crew.

He was a member of the Waconia VFW.

Leon is survived by his wife Doris; children and spouses: Mary and Don Schuler, Joanne Plocher and special friend, Don Geyen; Steve Hucky and special friend, Ginni Klein; Lynn Wachholz and special friend, Mike Tordoff, all of Waconia; Barbara and Paul Simons of Norwood Young America; and Dave and Pam Hucky of Waconia.

Leon is further survived by his grandchildren: Chad Schuler and special friend, Michelle; Bryan Schuler, Angela Schuler, Lisa and David Trayer, Jerod Hucky, Krissy and Justin Hilgers, Becky, Bob and Aaron Simons; Kari, Kathy, Kelli, and Kristi Wachholz; and Jordan, Ashlyn and Madison Hucky; great-grandchildren, Michael, Drew and Brittni; a sister, Sylvia Artmann of Winsted; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Andrew and Luella Simon of Hutchinson, Elaine Simon of St. Bonifacius, Jane Simon of Crosby, and Bea Simon of Shakopee; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Theresa Huckenpoehler; grandson, Russell Simons; and grandparents.

Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, Aug. 4, 5 p.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waconia, with the Rev. Martin J. Siebenaler officiating.

Serving as casket bearers were Leon's children: Mary Schuler, Joanne Plocher, Steve Hucky, Lynn Wachholz, Barbara Simons, and Dave Hucky. Leon's grandchildren were honorary casket bearers.

Interment was at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Waconia, with the Waconia VFW standing guard and performing military graveside services.

Johnson Funeral Home of Waconia handled the arrangements.
