Charles R. "Chuck" Jensen
Charles R. "Chuck" Jensen, age 74 of Howard Lake and formerly of Watertown, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, at church, immediately after his Sunday school class.
Charles was born in Omaha, Neb., May 17, 1926, the son of Ehlers and Alice (Greder) Jensen.
He honorably served in the United States Navy on the USS Pennsylvania during World War II.
On July 1, 1951, Charles and Loretta Hintze were joined in holy marriage in Omaha, Neb. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters.
Chuck owned and operated Jensen Signs since 1961. He was a former photo engraver at the Bureau of Engraving and later, was employed at the Star Tribune.
Charles was a member of the First Baptist Church, Cokato, and its Men's Bible Study Breakfast Group.
He enjoyed traveling and spending the last few winters with his wife, Loretta, in Texas and Florida.
Charles is survived by his wife Loretta; daughters, Betty (Norm) Isaacson of Loomis, Neb.; and Merijo (Steve) Strandquist of Mayer; grandchildren, Jenn (Mike) Pedersen, Rachel (Andrew) Montgomery, Chris Isaacson, Jon Isaacson; Amy Strandquist, Joelle Strandquist and Tim Strandquist; and great-grandchildren, Isabella and Luke Pedersen.
He is further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Beauford (Lila) Hintze, Fred (Ann) Hintze and Martha Hintze; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Jensen.
Funeral services were Thursday, June 15, 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, Cokato, with the Rev. Danville Swanson officiating. The Rev. Paul Kling read the scriptures and Chuck's obituary. Interment with military rites followed at the Atwater Union Cemetery.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, on Wednesday, June 14, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Janet Ostroot served as the organist for the service. Yvonne Rammel and Amy Strandquist served as pianists. Vocalists were Jenn Pedersen and Joelle Strandquist. Congregational hymns were "Because He Lives" and "I'll Fly Away."
Larry Anderson, Don Bakeberg, Chris Isaacson, Jon Isaacson, Kelly Mankenberg, Dale Miller, David Nyquist Tim Strandquist, Wyman Nelson and Bob Ostroot served as casket bearers.
The Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, served the family.
