Amanda O. Karels
Funeral services for Amanda O. Karels, 87, of Norwood Young America will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America, with the Rev. David Winter offociating.
Visitation was at St. John's Lutheran Church on Thursday from noon to 2 p.m.
Mrs. Karels died on Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999 at the Elim Home in Watertown.
Pallbearers were John Ketcher, Jim Ketcher, William Hovland, Bud Hovland, Jerry Pawelk and Milan Wischnack. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Norwood Young America.
She was born July 23, 1911 in Camden Township, Carver County, to Fred and Sophia (Ehrke) Martin. She was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in St. Paul.
On May 29, 1929, she married Clarence W. Karels.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Janice Ketcher and husband, Bob, of Norwood Young America; grandchildren, Susan and Mark Pierson, Jody and Patrick Lhotka, Peggy Ninow, John and YoVonne Ketcher, Jim Ketcher and Jennifer Ketcher; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Josh and Amanda Pierson, Rachel and Matthew Lhotka; sister, Ellen Hovland of Lakeville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Karels was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Karels; parents, Fred and Sophia Martin; brothers, Edwin and Alred Martin; and sisters, Agnes Christiansen and Esther Stoyke.
The Johnson Funeral Chapel of Waconia is handling arrangements.
