Ralph W. Ketcher
Ralph W. Ketcher, age 84 of Watertown, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at his home.
A memorial service took place Saturday, Oct. 14, 11 a.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Watertown, with the Revs. Paul Krentz and Jeff Harter officiating. Interment was in Watertown Public Cemetery.
Grandsons Jordan Ketcher, Matthew Ketcher, Mike Quast, Jeff Quast, Brock Ketcher, and Shad Ketcher served as casket bearers.
Ralph was born Jan. 6, 1916, at Watertown Township, Carver County, Minn., the son of Louis and Anna (Yaeger) Ketcher. He was baptized at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Watertown Township, by the Rev. G. Sebald, and confirmed April 21, 1929, at the same church by the Rev. K. Rudolph.
On Jan. 21, 1939, Ralph was married to Doris C. Toensing at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Paul, by the Rev. Wohlfeil.
Ralph worked in the maintenance department at Watertown High School. He previously owned Watertown Produce and Watertown Feed. He also worked for Western Condensing.
Ralph loved fishing and hunting.
He was very active in the Watertown Fire Dept. and Watertown American Legion, and both organizations attended the memorial service. The American Legion also provided military graveside services.
Ralph is survived by his wife Doris; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Paul Quast of Winsted; son and daughters-in-law, Rick and Marilyn Ketcher of Watertown, and Sharon Ketcher of Crystal; grandchildren, Mike Quast, Shelly and Terry Jorgensen, Jeff and Carol Quast, Melody and John Hintzen, Tammy and Larry Vealetzek, Staci and Greg Revering, Jodi and Ben Gilyard, Shad and Melissa Ketcher, Brock Ketcher, Nicole Ketcher, Anna Ketcher, Matthew Ketcher, Rachel Ketcher, and Jordan Ketcher; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He is further survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ruth Bruckner of St. Paul, Nathalie Jungwirth of St. Paul, Laura Nagel of Ely, Ray and Nancy Toensing of Palm Desert, Calif., and Dick and Shirley Toensing of White Bear Lake; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ralph was preceded in death by a son, Ralph (Butch) Ketcher; great-grandsons, Joshua Quast and Braeden Gilyard; parents, Louis and Anna Ketcher; sisters, Lottie Ketcher, Margie Ketcher, and Lenna Noeske; and brothers, Arthur, Lorenz, Leonard, Vern, and Earl (Ben) Ketcher.
The Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia, handled the arrangements.
