Henry Kielas, age 81 of Lester Prairie, died Friday, July 23, 1999, at the Delano Health Care Center after a five-year battle with cancer.
Henry was born July 14, 1918, in Hale Township, Silver Lake, to Michael and Rose (Slanga) Kelash. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Adalbert Church, Silver Lake, where he was a lifetime member.
Henry received his education at St. Adalbert School. In his youth, he worked for area farmers.
On Nov. 14, 1942, Henry married Dolores Buska. The marriage was blessed with two children, Donald and Frances.
Over the years, Henry was employed at Clark's Pure Milk Creamery and Schwartz Manufacturing.
Henry's wife Dolores passed away in 1970. On May 20, 1972, Henry married Viola (Vorlicek) Mikolichek.
Henry is survived by his wife Viola; son, Donald and his wife, Karen; daughter, Frances and her husband, James Helmbrecht; step-children, Linda and her husband, Mark Kopp; Dean Mikolichek and his wife, Karen; Theresa Van De Steeg; Clarence Mickolichek and his wife, Melinda; Harvey Mickolichek and his wife, Connie; Dolores and her husband, Jack Sweeney; Mary Ann Artmann; and Minerva and her husband, Kenny Stritesky.
He is further survived by granddaughters: Darlene and husband, Kurt Piepenberg; Diane and husband, Richard Goede; Denise and husband, Dan Scheele; Dolores Helmbrecht and friend, Pete Lommel; and Lisa Rasmussen; great-grandchildren: Travis and Kayla Piepenberg, Tia Lommel; Nicholas, Michael, and Aaron Rasmussen; 35 step-grandchildren; 23 step-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Leone and Helen Kielas.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Dolores; granddaughter, Kim Kielas; parents, Mike and Rose; brothers: Stanley, Theophil, Michael, Casimer and Emil; sisters: Elizabeth Mork, Emma Syde, Katherine Michaels, (Clara) Sister Alfonza, (Magdalen) Sister Olga, Sophie Kaminsky and Valeria Kielas; step-son-in-law, Clemens Artmann; and step-granddaughter, DeAnn Sweeney.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, July 26, 1999, 10:30 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with the Rev. Robert Mraz officiating.
Organist was Val Shamla. The choir sang "Here I Am Lord," "Be Not Afraid," "I Am The Bread Of Life," and "On Eagle's Wings." Sherlyn Kapsner was reader, great-grandsons, Nicholas and Michael were gift-bearers. Jerome Kaminsky served as eucharistic minster.
Pallbearers were Kurt Piepenberg, Dan Scheele, Pete Lommel, Gene Curtis, Leonard Kaminsky and Gilbert Paul.
Maresh Funeral Home, Silver Lake, handled the arrangements.
