Mary Anastasia Klugow
Mary Anastasia Klugow, age 73 of Howard Lake and formerly of Waverly, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at Howard Lake Good Samaritan Home.
Mary was born on a farm south of Waverly to Tom and Bessie (Sanford) Casey. She grew up on the farm and in Howard Lake. Mary was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Waverly.
She attended country school south of Waverly and then, Howard Lake Public School.
Mary was united in marriage to Eldon Klugow on Dec. 31, 1945, at St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake. Mary joined St. James Lutheran Church at the time of her marriage.
The couple made their home five miles north of Howard Lake by the Crow River, where they farmed and raised their family.
In the 1970s, Mary joined Albion Free Church.
She enjoyed flowers and gardening. Mary worked as a partner on the farm and was also active in many church functions.
In 1995, Mary entered the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Home, where she passed away at the age of 73 years, five months, and four days.
Mary is survived by her husband Eldon; sons, Roy and Darlene, Roger, Randy and Sue, all of Howard Lake; and daughter, Gena and Gary Rausch of Becker; grandchildren, Becky, Sharon, Diane, Andy, Amber, Karrisa, Katie, Steven; great-grandchildren, Darrel and Heather; brothers, Michael, Patrick, Thomas, and Joe; and sister, Betty Krienke.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margaret Seefeldt; and a grandson, Darrel.
Funeral services were Friday, March 24, 11 a.m., at Albion Evangelical Free Church, with the Rev. James Anderson officiating. Music was provided by Beverly Lund. Interment was at Sylvan Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Richard Casey, Michael Klugow, Michael Schauer, Darrell Klugow, Daniel Krienke, and Timothy Seefeldt.
Arrangements were by Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home, Inc., Cokato and Howard Lake.
