Leonard F. Krcil
Funeral services for Leonard F. Krcil, 94, of Silver Lake were held on Wednesday, Jan. 27, from the Faith Presbyterian Church in Silver Lake, with the Rev. Deanna Peterson officiating.
Mr. Krcil died on Jan. 24, 1999, at the Glencoe Area Health Center.
Organist was Gladys Smoley, and Ron and Ellie Makovsky sang a duet. The congregational hymns were "Near to the Heart of God," the Czech hymn, "Duveruj Se V Pana," "In the Garden" and "Amazing Grace."
Pallbearers were Mike Krcil, Mark Krcil, Kelly Martin, Kristen Martin, Larry Ondrachek, David Larson and Robert Lange. Interment was in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Silver Lake.
Mr. Krcil was born to Anton and Nettie (Ondrachek) Krcil on July 22, 1904, in Rich Valley Township, McLeod County. He spent his youth on the farm and attended District 6 and District 51 country schools in Rich Valley Township.
Mr. Krcil farmed until 1950, when he sold the farm and went to Minneapolis to work at the Northfield Southern Railroad. During the week, he would live in Minneapolis and come back to Silver Lake on the weekends.
After he retired, Mr. Krcil enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing cards and visiting with friends and family.
He was a life-long member of the Faith Presbyterian Church in Silver Lake.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Sally Krcil; nephew, Gary Krcil and wife, Nancy; niece, Betty Martin and husband, Gary; great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward and Fred Krcil; and sister, Alice Krcil.
Funeral arrangements were by the Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake.
