Maxine Lilah Ladd, age 63 of Hutchinson, passed away unexpectedly
Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at her home in Hutchinson.
Memorial services were Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, 1 p.m.,
at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Greg Nelson
officiating.
Jan Smith was the organist, and the pianist was Joyce Piehl.
Congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art,” “Amazing
Grace,” “Because He Lives,” and “Joy To The World.”
The soloist, Rochelle Robinson, sang “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.”

Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery, Hutchinson.
Maxine was born June 2, 1936, in Buffalo Lake, Minn., the
daughter of Charles and Lilah (Ebent) Giraud. She was baptized as an infant
and later, confirmed in her faith as a youth at the Zion Evangelical Bretheran
Church, Buffalo Lake.
She attended school in Buffalo Lake, graduating from high
school in 1954. She continued her education at St. Cloud Teachers College,
where she received her teaching certificate.
On Oct. 25, 1958, Maxine was united in marriage to Lorenz
Ladd at the Zion Evangelical United Bretheran Church, Buffalo Lake. This
marriage was blessed with two children.
Following their marriage, Maxine and Larry resided in Winthrop,
Minn., where they both taught school. They later transferred to Buffalo
Lake and then, moved to Hutchinson in 1964.
Maxine and Larry shared 41 years of marriage together.
Together, they owned and operated the Good News Unlimited Christian Book
Store, Hutchinson, for 22 years.
Maxine was an active member of the Bethlehem United Methodist
Church, Hutchinson, where she was a member of the Women’s Society, served
on various church committees, and also taught adult Sunday school.
She was also an honorary member of the Hutchinson Women’s
Club. In her spare time, Maxine enjoyed reading, traveling, observing birds
and nature, and watching the Vikings, as well as musicals and theater. She
especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Maxine was very dedicated to children and grandchildren,
as well as a family pet, Ozzy.
Survivors include her husband Larry of Hutchinson; daughter,
Karna Jereska and husband, Dean, of Hutchinson; son, David Ladd of Brooklyn
Park, and his special friend, Deb Lemke, of Hutchinson; and grandchildren,
Rochelle Robinson, Kristin Robinson and Kara Robinson.
She is further survived by her father, Charles Giraud of
Buffalo Lake; brother, Douglas Giraud and wife, RuthAnn; nieces, Kari TeKolste
and husband, Rob, and Keli Lindsey and husband, Scott, all of Urbandale,
Iowa; great nieces and nephews, Kirsti, Ashton, and Drake Lindsey; and Erin
and Jenna TeKolste.
Maxine was preceded in death by her mother, Lilah Giraud,
and her grandparents.
Arrangements were by Dobratz-Hantge Chapel, Hutchinson.
