Lawrence Peter Libor obituary, 12/17/99


Lawrence Peter Libor, age 68 of Winsted, and formerly of
Delano, died Dec. 17, 1999, at the Hutchinson Community Hospital.
Lawrence was born in Franklin Township, Wright County,
on June 16, 1931, the son of Peter P. and Mary (Kittock) Libor.
On Sept. 29, 1951, Lawrence was joined in holy marriage
to Bernadette “Bernie” Stifter at Holy Trinity Catholic Church,
Winsted. God blessed their marriage with four children: Lawrence Jr., Catherine,
Barbara, and James.
Lawrence honorably served in the U. S. Army during the
Korean War.
He was employed at Mid-America Dairymen, Inc. for more
than 40 years, where he served as a Mid-Am supervisor from 1970-1993. After
retiring from his supervisor’s position, he graded cheese for five years.
Lawrence was a champion cheese maker. He won many awards
including a world championship and numerous Minnesota State Fair championships.
Year after year, he also took many first place awards in various other competitions.
A faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Lawrence
was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 8253, Holy Trinity Court
1054, Catholic Order of Foresters, and American Legion Post 407 in Winsted.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting casinos, spending
weekends at the cabin with family and friends, and gardening. In 50 years,
Lawrence never missed a deer hunting and fishing opener.
He is survived by his wife Bernadette “Bernie”
Libor; children, Lawrence Libor Jr. and friend, Pam; Catherine Libor and
friend, Greg; Barbara and husband, Dave Reed; and James Libor and friend,
Anne; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers,
Clem Pillatzki, Marion (Robert) Murray, Jenny Annette and friend, Alfred;
Elizabeth (Joseph) Gueningsman, Art Libor and friend, Karen; George Libor
and friend, Jeanie; Steve (Joan) Libor, Rosella Hudson, Delores Quast, Annette
(Larry) Thelen, Mary (Mike) Dungoski, Peter Libor and friend, Sharon and
Paul (Joan) Libor.
Lawrence is further survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law:
Mabel Libor, Francis (Alice) Stifter, Vincent (Kathy) Stifter, Leonard (Betty)
Stifter, Gilbert (Beverly) Stifter, Veronica Stifter, Monica Stifter and
Felix (Joni) Stifter; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and
Mary; a granddaughter, Jenifer Lynn Kirking; father-in-law and mother-in-law,
Frank M. and Theodora M. “Dora” Stifter; brothers, Edward and
Gerard Libor; a sister, Anna Hanson; and brothers-in-law, Lee Annette, Bruce
Hanson, Stanley Quast, Leo Pillatzke and Tom Hudson.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, Dec. 20, noon, at
the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the
celebrant and interment followed at the Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, on
Sunday, Dec. 19, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m., and
an American Legion memorial service at 7 p.m. A combined Knights of Columbus
and Catholic Order of Foresters rosary was recited at 8 p.m.
D.J. Kirking, Larry Stifter, Corey Eckel, Ardell Walgrave,
Lee Pillatzki and Robert Gueningsman served as the casket bearers.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
